Diplomate of Oriental Medicine

A Diplomate of Oriental Medicine is a practitioner who is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®) and has met the certification requirements for both acupuncture and Chinese herbology. Yoga

In addition to being a yoga practitioner, Dr. Gina Snowden is an E-RYT® 200 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) and YACEP® (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) through Yoga Alliance.

These credentials recognize her advanced training and extensive teaching experience in yoga instruction. As a YACEP®, she is qualified to offer continuing education courses for yoga teachers, supporting the Yoga Alliance's mission to uphold the highest standards of teaching, safety, ethics, and lifelong learning within the yoga community.

Her classes and workshops emphasize mindful movement, safe alignment, and accessible practice, creating space for students to reconnect with the breath, cultivate balance, and develop strength and awareness—both on and off the mat.

Gina received her 200-hour training from the renowned White Lotus Foundation's in-residence training in 2003. Her approach to yoga is grounded, intentional, and deeply connected to the body’s innate wisdom—bridging movement, mindfulness, and medicine to support balance and self-healing.

Fitness

Dr. Snowden is also a certified Primary Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Fitness Trainer through the Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).

Her training reflects a strong foundation in safe, effective movement and exercise science, with an emphasis on functional strength, mobility, and body awareness. Drawing on decades of experience in both fitness and holistic medicine, Gina integrates mindful movement with therapeutic intention—helping clients build resilience, confidence, and vitality at every stage of their wellness journey.

At Healing Roots, her approach to fitness honors the body as both powerful and wise, blending strength with mindfulness to support lasting well-being.

Licensed Massage Therapist

As a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the state of Hawai‘i (MAT 13752), Gina's bodywork training includes a deep understanding of tissue dynamics, anatomy, physiology, and both Eastern and Western therapeutic techniques.

This diverse education—shaped by the wisdom of her teachers, years of hands-on practice, and her own experience as a recipient of bodywork—continues to inform every aspect of her clinical work.

Gina integrates this knowledge seamlessly into her acupuncture and movement sessions, drawing on bodywork principles to support ease, mobility, circulation, and the body’s natural healing response. Her approach is intuitive, grounded, and respectful of the body’s intelligence—honoring the interconnectedness of structure, energy, and mindful awareness.
